I was told to make a new thread here about my problem.

Apparantly my bro d/l'ed a codec and up to the point where I used SUPERAntiSpyware, when ever I googled something, I was redirected to some random sites.

Now whenever I try to run games with GameGuard or XTrap, they give me a message saying to close any programs that may collide with the client.

I'm asking for your help in solving this problem.

I believe I know that trojan. Your brother was looking at porn. It told him he needed to install a "codec" to watch what he wanted to see. Like an idiot, he downloaded the program without scanning it, randomly ran the program, either it posing as legitimate software with an EULA when he ran it or it self installed itself.

If I'm right, you're infected with WinFixer. It's known to disguise itself as a 'codec', redirects google searches telling you you're infected with malware and tells you you're infected with 4-5 viruses.

Your best bet? Download the trial version of a good AV such as Kaspersky, use it to remove the trojan and either uninstall it or pm me for a pirated license key good for another 124 days. (that is if I can find where I have the keys saved to... >_>)
EDIT: Disregard that. The files were deleted. Damn

Sorry about the virus dude.
Try Mcafee, I bought my PC and it came with norton 1 year.
After it finished i was thinking of getting Mcafee Internet Security 2008 or total protection 2008, so i download the trial of it from download.com.
Mcafee Internet Security 30-Day Trial Download.com
I scanned my computer and it found 1 trojan and 2 other virus that norton couldn't. So is Mcafee a good AV??? Laughing

McAfee is alright. It's a super RAM eater, though.

I don't mean to be rude Zarr, no offence but its actually opposite of what you said.

Norton was always ontop of my process list doing mb's of my ram.
Mcafee is always around 270kb's.

My system runs faster after the change, it always automaticaly checks for updates. There are always updates, making my computer safer. It's saved me from around 5 big viruses and tracking cookies.

I think mcafee is the way to go although EVERYONE says it's firewall Sucks.
Anyway thanks for ur help Zarr, im still trying to rep you from helping me in my computer build.

Hmm, Thanks for the help guys.

What I did:
Spent the whole morning d/l antiviruses.
Ran full computer scans from all of them.
Deleted a bunch of threats that showed up from the scans.
Tried internet explorer and the proxy shit still comes up.
Still can't run games with any sort of hacking prevention system.

Is my last resort to format my comp and do a complete re-install?
Hope not, because I have heaps of schoolwork and useful junk I need.

You're probably right. I'm remembering McAfee from '06 when I had an oooold uber-shit computer. It used like all of my RAM. Then again, back then it used all of everyone's RAM.

bioshocked;

I've used XoftSpySE, numerous online scanners, chatted with technicians over the internet.

But I came across SpyBot; used it and now everything seems normal.
I hope the program that was causing this is gone. Oh, and I didn't jot down the names of the files that the AV's picked up - I just deleted them.

Thanks all who tried to help Smile

NOD32 is amazing if you need an anti-virus.

Though if you're not an idiot, you'll never need an anti-virus. I haven't got anything in as long as I can remember.

You can get infected by visiting hacked or drive-by-download sites.

Use this if there are no other methods ,

1) Have an important file BACK IT UP on your thumbdrives or external usb drives.
2) FULL COMPLETE REFORMAT.
3) Update your computer.
4) Restore back your important files.
FINISH!

Works for me , it deletes all the virus ^^
