|

Im on a 100mb line, but it seems like im just running 1/3 of it :S Why?(I have 3 computers)
Just tried with mozilla i got 33mb/s in, 14,mb/s out.
And with IE i got 72mb/s in, 8mb/s in... So it seems like mozilla takes alot more than ie? :S
The below is from mozilla, note:Skicka(send) Ta emot(recieve)
And ofcourse the top is from ie.

Your router separates the bandwidth into three parts, each at 33Mbps.
I don't know about the FireFox/IE thing, maybe during the tests, some of the bandwidth was returned to your computer.

Try another speed test.
You're not guaranteed what your ISP says, you can get up to it sure (maybe), but that doesn't mean you're going to hit that speed 100% of the time.

Its true, you very rarely get 100% of what your ISP says, so when you choose one you've got to consider what percentage is actually going to reach you. Also, if you've got three computers it is possible that your router is splitting into three...

That's not how it works. The router splits the bandwidth, but only as necessary. If you have a 100mb connection, if only one computer is downloading, even if others are on, it will still have all the bandwidth. Now if all 3 computers were downloading then yes you'd be limited to 33mbps.
Anyway, are you sure your connection is actually 100mbps, and not just the link to the router?
Also if you're using cable, AFAIK the current DOCSIS standard only allows up to 39mbps in each direction.
