Does anyone know why when I play a video on my computer it will only play the sound and not the video? Someone told me it was my "codec" but I dont know what a codec is.

99% sure it needs a codec. Try this

You can also use DivX as Lorrenzo suggested or you can use Vista Codecs. Both work great as far as I know.
