I dunno?
I always disable those shitty startup helper things to make my pc boot faster so I can watch pr0n faster XD
I'll try when I get home, thats in about 2.5 hours Razz
Got any tips on overclocking?

How about those omega drivers?
I heard people say they're full of bugs but I read on the Omega drivers' homepage that they're based on the latest official nvidia forceware drivers and just tweaked a bit for maximum performance...

Don't overcloack unless you know about it, and how to do it and its possible consequences.

First of all only overclock if you have a really good fan and good ventilated case, or some other type of cooling.

Also if you have no reason to overclock then don't. why risking catching your computer on fire with no need.

My 2 cents, don't overclock i just don't see a reason to go messing around with an already awesome ass card when there is no reason to or because you just wanna mess around.

Riva Tuner

This is not a forum where you should ask questions about overclcoking, because you won't get many "good" answers. Check out Guru3D Forum and OC Forums

Be patient and go slow, have fun.

1- There is a first time for everything, if he does it right, there shouldn't be any "consequences"
2- No, most people that don't go extreme, use the fan that came with the card, they increase the RMP in Riva Tuner and overclock it.
3- Dude, your card wont get on fire! It just won't happen.
4- How about because people want to have an even better performance in games? Some like taking risks.

Or if you do decide then go ahead but remember what i said.

And like he said go slow, dont just set it to some high ass core speed or some crap like that. go by low increments and restart you system every time and so some testing making sure its stable and not overheating.

nothing, It's just for the experience.
Man is made to have ambitions and be curious right?

Overclocked my 8800GTS, just now a little bit

GPU clock from 513 to 551
Shader from 1188 to 1275
memory from 792 to 850

think that's safe?

Scan for artifacts. Remember, be patient and go slow.

Only go about 50 units up. Any more than that can cause issues. But do remember, overclocking is very safe nowadays. You would need to TRY to fry your card in order for it to break. I've overclocked my card from 590 to 750 before, and my screen turned all distorted and lines went up and down it. Then, my computer turned off and restarted. Thank NVIDIA for overclocking protection ^_^.

Also, if your voltages are getting too high or wattage, it has protection for that too. It's nearly impossible to fuck up your computer with overclocking unless you tried to fuck it up on purpose.

Overclocking your CPU is completely safe if done within reason, video card overclocking I can't recommend though. I've overclocked plenty of cards within reason, scanned for artifacts and came back fine, and they've died within a few months, all very well cooled. The memory is especially sensitive and usually towards the limit of what it can handle, so you should leave that alone.

If you still wanna overclock the core, install RivaTuner, raise it 10MHz at a time, then test it in game, once you get artifacts, back off 10MHz.

But like others have said, if it works fine for you now, leave it alone.

You'll know artifacts when you see them, you'll start seeing weird colors on the screen and shit, that's when you back off on the oc a bit.
