I'm upgrading my current computer for Tabula Rasa... Are these good parts for it?

Don't get a portable HD. Just get a regular 300/500GB.
Also, get a better video card. I advise you to buy from Tigerdirect/Newegg instead of CompUSA. CompUSA has a tendency to overprice video cards.

Yes, but its overpriced. I recommend this.

It's $10 more, but you get 200GB more.

Well, first of all, since you're upgrading your processor and video card, you're going to need a new PSU. Inferring that your chassis is ATX and that your mobo is 20/24 pin, this PSU seems great. It's an awesome deal at an awesome price.

Now that you got a new PSU, if you're willing to put down some money, get a 512MB nVidia 8800GT Factory OC. If you do not have the money, you can always get a 512MB 8600GTS Hell, it even comes with a free game.

As for the processor, you should be fine with a Intel Core 2 Duo It's 2.66GHz and comes with a copy of Sword of the New World.

Assuming your computer is DDR2, this is one big deal. 2GB Ram for $45; but I advise you to go with two OCZ 2GB ram sticks.

If it's a Dell from 2004, it won't support DDR2, and it won't support a C2D either. You'll need a new motherboard.

Oh, man. Well that changes everything. Seeing that Dells BEFORE 2006 are BTX, you can't really customize anything. Probably only RAM, but not video and processor. Video cards such as the nVidia 8 Series require at least 350~400PSU. Seeing that Dell's usually have 300 PSU, you should upgrade, but the chassis for Dell's before 2007 are BTX. Meaning ATX PSU's (which are all aftermarket/custom, since BTX is mostly Dell) are not compatable. My advice to you is:

Buy a new computer.

If it's from 2004, it's either Socket 478, or if it is even 775, it'll be based on an old chipset like 945 that won't support C2D.

You my sir are god... for an hour.

How can I check if my comp is DDR2? I'm not on my comp atm so idk... My comp is a dell from 2004.

If it's a Dell from 2004, it won't support DDR2, and it won't support a C2D either. You'll need a new motherboard.

DAMN IT :<

Wanna give me a good motherboard?

It easy to install all this stuff... right? XD

No new mobo either, or at least thats what I heard.

I'm gonna make a new one I guess... Accept me on MSN
