Cheat Engine

I was fiddling with the settings and when I was done, I closed cheat engine. When I opened it up again, I got: "In 'stream:' (line 1 pos 1): Root element is missing error. When the error spammed me 5 times and I clicked ok, it finally gave me the opportunity to use the application. Once I selected what application I wanted to attack with cheat engine, and I scanned a value, it gave me: "Access violation" error. This makes cheat engine absolutely useless. I tried to change settings and re-installed cheat engine multiple times and nothing works. I even went into root terminal and disabled my virus protection and that didn't work. Please tell me a solution or give me a link to a solution. (Cheat engine 6,2/ Macbook pro 2009/ OS X El capitan)

delete the .config folder in your user dir

I'm sorry, but there isn't a config folder in: Mac Hd> Users> Peter. Am I looking in the wrong place?

you'll need to show invisible files (does finder even allow that ?)

I usually just use a terminal and then remove it there (using sudo if needed)

I delete 1100 files with "config" in them, via Terminal rm command, and I still manage to have the same root element error. May you briefly explain why config files have to with the root element error? Maybe after I understand a little why the error is occurring, I could address it properly.

the config/settings are an .xml file. if the xml reader reads a file and can't read a proper root node, it gives tgat error.

so it looks like the xml file is empty or corrupt or just unreadable.

it's likely the .config dir has the root user as owner, but the read/write privilege for everyone is missing

There aren't that many .xml files at all on my computer. Maybe, you can tell which ones have to do with the cheat engine settings.

check the root user files. your finder might not have the rights to enumerate files in the dirs

what i did was

go to mac hd > users > mac

show hidden files using terminal: (im using OS X El Capitan)
