Natively it will not run any Windows programs. However, there is a program called WINE that will run most Windows programs with no slowdown, but it generally won't run games.

Wine actually runs games fairly well, and has a very big fan base and application database wiki for users to contribute information about how they have gotten applications to run with it. As suck a cheetahs dick said though, games are not designed to run on Linux natively (at least not the one you said). The dedicated server was ported by the company, but the game is set for a Windows platform only.

You can find info regarding getting CS Source to work on Linux here:

Wine can be found here:
http://winehq.org/?announce=latest

As for Linux, you will have to choose your own choice in a distro to use. The most successful one for Steam games that I have seen running Wine was Ubuntu, so I would suggest getting it if you plan to run those games mainly.

Which you can find here:

if it's going to end up being harder for you and giving you more problems to run certain programs/games, then why would you want to change to something that's working fine for you atm?[/b]

True, if he wants to try something different he should just run it in a virtual machine.

It does. Most distros of 'nix come with the ability to alter the MBR to load the boot screen selector.

Yeah almost all distros come with a bootloader, but it'd be even easier to just to try a few in VMware, no risk of messing anything up, and he can try as many as he likes.
