I change it and click apply and click ok then go back to propartys and its still checked!
My system specs:
Windows XP Pro.
SP2 - and all updates
FAT32(It will be NTFS once I get around to formating)
1 Partition
Plenty of space.
Symantic Antivirus Corp.
More information needed? Request please.
I tryed everything the web told me to do. (Google!)
I even rolled back a month....
Has anyone had this problem? This is a first for me. |
i don't know much about your problem but if it's not bothering you then don't worry about it. also you don't need to format your fat32 partition to get it to NTFS, there's a command script file in C:\Windows\ which converts you're partition to NTFS, it's called "NTFS Converter", but yeah you could also do this when you next format your computer.
...even though you probably didn't need that information lol.

when you say your folders are marked as read-only, do you mean they have a tick in the box or is the box fully shaded in with a square. all of my folders have a square shade in read-only but i can change it though.
also how long did this start happening? has this always happened and you just noticed it now, or did it happen not long ago? you could also try a system restore if it happened out of the blue, and if all else fails you format.

Try this too:
| Quote: | A. If the folder is one that you customized using the Customize This Folder Wizard in Windows Explorer or a standard Windows customized folder (e.g., the Fonts folder), you might not be able to remove the read-only attribute or you might receive an error when you try to write a file to the folder. In either scenario, Windows is preventing you from writing to the folder because the OS is using the read-only flag to determine whether the folder is a system folder.
To work around this problem so that you can modify a folder's read-only status, you can tell Windows to use the system flag instead of the read-only flag to identify customized folders. To configure Windows to use the system flag, perform the following steps:
1. Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer subkey.
3. Select New, DWORD Value from the Edit menu.
4. Enter a name of
UseSystemForSystemFolders
and press Enter.
5. Double-click the new value, set it to 1, and click OK.
6. Close the registry editor.
7. Reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.
