I have a question when It comes to packet sniffing.

What would you recommend as the best packet sniffer?
I am thinking about Ethereal but I want to get some opinions first.

Do I need to learn anything before I can edit packets?
Do I need to learn Hexadecimal or something like that before I start editing Pakcets? Or is the value a normal number like it would be in Cheat Engine?

the best is WPE pro and you dont need any hex knowledge

Thank you, wow that was quick. Oh yeah one last thing is it, possible to accidently damage a server while packet sniffing. Just wondering because if it's that risky I might just stay with Memory editing.

^ Not really. And you don't need to learn Hex. After you compare a few packets from the same event it becomes obvious which numbers are doing what.
