Hey on my computer I deleted a user account but not the personal files. Cuz I thought that I could get back into the "My Documents" because they are still there. The only problem is that when I try and open the folder in "Documents and Settings" it says that access is denied. Anyone else run into this problem and could give me a pointer.

Are you the computer administrator? You'd need to be, I'd imagine.

Yes. I even restarted in safe mode and went into the overall administrative account there.

Can you copy+Paste the folder, then re-create the account?

Copy+Paste the folder in case re-creating the account destroys it.

Which OS are you running? And are you absolutely sure you're on the admin account? Check the user account's through control panel and make sure it shows something like below for the account you're logged on to.

Change the permissions. First owner and then the rest of the permissions:

If you're not running WXP Pro, just boot into safe mode and you'll have all the same settings as Pro one on your Home version.

I figured you weren't, but I was just making sure.

I'm actually gonna test this, gonna create an account, put shit on it, delete the account without removing files and I'll let you know if I can still get them.

Also, can you do a System Restore to before you deleted the account?

Edit: Before I go through the making of extra accounts, files, and deleting the account, try what Jani posted, hopefully it works and I can refer back to it in the future.

System restore is totally useless for anyone else, but noobs :) It's just eats all your HDD -> If you're experienced enough, turn it off.
