I've just bought a new laptop With a IntelCeleron Inside Processor i due with problems such as lag in differents games, on of my friends said the IntelCore Processor is made so you can write and go on the Internet and not to much Gaming i would, be happy if anyone could confirm that it is right or not
Thank You

No, your friend is wrong. Intel Core Duo/Quad perform well in games although a lot of games are not optimized to take full advantage of a Duo or a Quad core. Your lag is probably caused by your internet or by low FPS, maybe it's your video card

If I'm correct, those games don't require a lot from the CPU, unless it's Counter-Strike: Source. It's probably your internet connection or video card perhaps. The problem may not be hardware related also, switch to XP if you can and maybe scan for malwares/viruses.

i'll give an example: you're multitasking with a Core2Duo 2.40Ghz. then it works like you've got 2x2.40 ghz=4,80 ghz.
you're gaming: the game doesn't use multiple cores so the second core isn't used, and you'll not get the benefit from the second core.
short summary:
INTEL Core2Duo 2.4 Ghz
multitasking: 4,8 Ghz
gaming: 2,4 Ghz
INTEL Core2Quad (4 cores!) 2,4 Ghz
multitasking: 9,6 Ghz
gaming: 2.4 Ghz (awwww..)
NOTE: there are some games which use morre then one core. |
That's not how it works...

Definitely not how it works, it pisses me off when people type stupid shit like that. The cores operate at a set clock frequency, adding cores does not magically make the other cores run at a faster clock rate, what the fuck are you thinking? Show me a screeshot of a quad running at 9GHz, and I'll rep you. Go ahead, find one that isn't edited.
Also, your analogy basically implies gaming doesn't benefit from multi-cores, which is simply not true. Multi-threaded games aren't too common yet but they're still out there.
Now that I'm done shoveling through all that bullshit, to answer the original question, celeron's are the bottom of the CPU scale, not very good for gaming, but your graphics card is likely limiting you more, post the model of the graphics chip and also the operating speed of your CPU would help.
