its not completely useless... and if there is a memory issue put the thing down.. or disable, then re-enable to flush all old points and recover memory _________________

For all the people who say it's not useless learn how to use a computer.
download Kaspersky AV and you'll never need any BS MS feature again . |

Did anyone even read the first post completely?

@MRFlame: If you mean the recovery console, that is installed via your Windows CD and can be uninstalled. To remove it:
Code: | 1. Restart your computer, click Start, click My Computer, and then double-click the hard disk where you installed the Recovery Console.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
3. Click Show hidden files and folders, click to clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click OK.
4. At the root folder, delete the Cmdcons folder and the Cmldr file.
5. At the root folder, right-click the Boot.ini file, and then click Properties.
6. Click to clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK.
Warning: Modifying the Boot.ini file incorrectly may prevent your computer from restarting. Make sure that you delete only the entry for the Recovery Console. Also, change the attribute for the Boot.ini file back to a read-only state after you finish this procedure. Open the Boot.ini file in Microsoft Windows Notepad, and remove the entry for the Recovery Console. It looks similar to this:
C:\cmdcons\bootsect.dat="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons
7. Save the file and close it. |
Other then that, I would assume it is something that comes with your brand of computer, such as Dell or Emachines. You would need to consult the manufactures manual or site on how to remove their own recovery software. _________________

If you keep daily backups like I do(and you should too, at least weekly), you don't need System Restore, so it just wastes space.
I think what mr flame is talking about is an OEM feature specific to his machine, and we'd need to know his make and model machine to even begin to help him there. |

I just use Windows's built in backup utility, automated full system backups to may NAS every night when I'm sleeping so it doesn't even require me to do anything more. |
