If it is an online game, the timer may be server-side.

Timers can be tricky, at least in my experience. Most of the time, at least for me, searching exact isnt productive. Try an unknown initial scan, then a bunch of decreased values or changed, then a same as initial search. I have a game where the timer counts up, and jumps by a large increment, so it can be tricky. For me, the easiest methods are increased/decreased and changed scans.

They can be storing the time in various different methods. A common one is by seconds to hold the entire time.

So you would have:

TotalSeconds is what is stored in memory. To convert that to what you might see on screen:

Hours = (TotalSeconds / 3600) % 24
Minutes = (TotalSeconds / 60) % 60
Seconds = (TotalSeconds % 60)

Incase you don't know % means modulo/modulus which means 'the remainder of'.

So lets take an example, 46000 total seconds.

Hours = (46000/3600)%24 = 12
Minutes = (46000/60)%60 = 46
Seconds = (46000%60) = 40
12:46:40

I forgot all about clock type counters, or I would have mentioned something along those lines. Sorry about that...and yeah, thats a common method if its a clock like counter. I've found several instances of counters that count in odd ways. So trigger the timer, then scan for unknown initial, decreased every second until just before timer is up or until you get one addy. Whats the game? Maybe someone here has it and knows how already.

I think he is referring to a trial period of a game.
Something like wild tangent games. 1 hour to 30 minutes of play.

One easy way to do this without any reversing, Is once the launcher/loader launches the game, Use CE to freeze process on the launcher/loader. This will stop the timer.
Then use another CE to hack the game.

I am trying to figure out how to stop the task timers as well. I went to the advanced options, but I am not sure what I am supposed to look for, as I am not familiar with the codes. I am playing a few games where the player has about 30 seconds to complete a task. I too would like to be able to stop the timer.

If this post is a repeat, my apologies.
