Hello anyone who cared enough to read Smile

First off, I completed tutorials 1 through 8 with no problem, and used the search button before posting this thread.

My problem is...

When I search for a pointer in some games... Instead of returning one variable, it returns like 400 variables... Now I can't change those variables, or change the address, so how do I find the correct pointer?

Now I know you're probbally thinking *Wow this guy is an idiot... What is he talking about* Well I am trying my best to explain my problem, but I don't know quite how to explain it...

Ok lets say the value I want to change is *7*, well I search for it, I get 1000000 hits, now I change it to 6, search and get 300 hits, I change it to 5 and get 3 hits, and now I change it to 7 again, and only one of the variables returns as 7.

I select that, put it on the bottom section, then I click *find what writes to this address*

It returns as 008f0437 80 86a4 04 00 00 - mov [esi+000004a4],eax

Now I write down the value of esi, and the offset of 000004a4

esi in this case is 03772E80

so I search for 03772E80 in 4 byte, Exact Value, and with hex checked

But now instead of getting one address that has the value of 03772E80, I get 250 addresses, all with the value of 03772E80

Now I can't change the value of 03772E80 so I can filter out the wrong addresses, so how do I find the right address for 03772E80 that will be my pointer...

I need to find the right address so that I can get to the base pointer, I am dealing with a complex multi-level pointer for this game, and if I can't get the base pointer, I can't change the value of 7 or save my work....

My question is, how do I find the right address for 03772E80, when there are 300 addresses that contain the value of 03772E80

I hope I explained my problem good enough... And I hope someone is nice and inteligent enough to help me.

Well I am an idiot but I'll tae a shot...
How many of the addresses you find are green(I think green is dynamic)?
I think the address you want is gonna be one of the green ones so if theres only a few green ones then you can do trial and error and if theres only 1 green one YAY.

Btw, you might think its bad quality, but its not, just i had "100% quality" so just see it in full-screen mode and u will see its 2 many pixels to see in small screen, not bad quality

Well there are like 100 green's and 200 non-greens....

But I doubt it would be a static right off the back, I'm guessing it would be a pointer to a pointer to a pointer Surprised

And another problem, I can't guess check because if I do, the game crashes...

I gotta know the exact address, and guessing one out of 250 just won't cut it... I have a 249/250 ---> 996/1000 ---> 99.6 chance in picking the wrong address and crashing the server, and a 0.4 chance in picking the right address, and getting the right pointer....

Okay, I watched the video- Very helpful accept for a few things...

First being, I don't know how to use the pointer scanner.

After seeing 300 addresses with the same value, I instantly thought of the "pointer scanner", but when I tryed to use it, I couldn't find any pointers.

Even in the tutorial, I couldn't find any pointers using the "pointer scanner".

Thats probbally because, I have no clue how to use the pointer scanner...

Could someone please teach me how to use the "Pointer Scanner"?

Hmmm I think I understand why you sent me that video now...

You misunderstand my problem.

My problem isn't getting multiple addresses in the pointer scanner, hell I don't even get ANY addresses in the pointer scanner xD

I get multiple addresses with the same value when I search for the pointer with the cheat engine in hex and exact value for certain games.

Using the pointer scanner would definately solve my problem IF I could get it to work... But I could never EVER get the pointer scanner to work, I have to do it the hard way... You know writing down what eax is, and the offsets, then doing the math and searching for it then adding it manualy....

Edit:

I just tryed using the "Pointer Scanner", even watched how the guy in the video used it and did it the same way...

"Pointer scan for this address"
"Default"
"Ok"

Then it scans, and comes up with ZERO addresses.... Sad

if its green its static... end of discussion... otherwise use codefinder and search deeper into the nested pointer.

Ah! Thanks henrik! I changed that to 4, and I got 256 results off the tut! Smile

Any other usefull commands I should know? Very Happy

Uggh.....

I searched for the pointer, and after 3 hours of it searching.... I got 1300 results... So I saved the list, restarted the game, searched for which pointer in the saved list matches the address I want to find the pointer to, and It lowers to 220 results...

Now, I restart the application AGAIN, load the saved 220 result list, search for the pointer, and I still get 220 results...

How do I lower the 220 results down to 1 result...?

220 is also the number I would get when I would try to find the pointer the hard way, searching for it with cheat engine instead of using the pointer scanner...

So basicly I'm back to the same problem I started out with Sad

np, just choose 1 random of them
