| i need a compiler and editor so i can use the book " learning C++ in 21 days" someone please tell me where i can find a good compiler and editor. Link perhaps?

| wait.. but how come when you download VC++ after the installation it says "YOu need to register your software after 30 days"? i thought it was free, or does it still let you use it after?

It's not free, there's an "express" edition which is free, it just misses a couple of things which you can get from the platform SDK (also a free download).

Don't use Dev-C++, there are plenty of good free C/++ compilers that don't break/mutate your code, break/mutate other peoples code (with its weird headers) and can make DLLs.

It's free to register and once you do, it stops nagging you.
I don't think you can make native win32 programs without the Platfork SDK also.
