No... If you tried overclocking some hardware and you unable to boot after the procedure, it's not because of the protection.

The protection is there to avoid what you're talking about. T_T

The most probably reason why it won't boot after an overclock, it's because your not giving enough voltage to the processor (if we overclocked the processor, that is). I don't know about what "protection" you're talking about, but I can assure you that it's not present in mainstream motherboards, like the motherboard you'll buy if you wanted a decent rig.

Overvolting does exist.

Do you even know what that is?

No, but it has to do with overVOLTing. Technically speaking, it should work.

 Well you started talking about this mysterious protection that prevented overclocking, and now your talking about overvolting, I don't get where you are trying to go? :P

Well, you said that if you overclock, you won't have enough voltage getting to your hardware. Solution: overvolt.
P.S. I don't think I'm going anywhere, just feeling rather drowsy.

An overvolt is not necessary unless you planing to do some extreme overclocking. The voltage to the CPU can be adjusted in the BIOS.

Which is what I was referring to. He overclocked/overvolted and now he just can't boot because of his greediness (aka fried hardware/overclocking protection), or he should just use the warrenty option (provided it hasn't already expired).

No, no, no! When you overclock your CPU, you try to keep the voltage at stock settings and increase the FSB to the maximum without getting unstable or without not being able to boot. If his system gets unstable or wont boot, he'll either have to lower the FBS or increase the voltage.
Overvolting requires hardware modifications to change supply voltages.

Try googling your motherboard model, and look for instructions on how hard-reset the bios. i've had a problem similar to this in the past, and hard resetting the bios helped . good luck!

rendering your computer unable to boot isn't all that uncommon when really trying to push limits in overclocking.
just short the jumpers or take out the battery and like magic it's back. unless you of course did cook something.
