I think some mobo's will throw a RAM failure beep if you don't have any RAM connected at all, might want to try stripping it down as minimal as possible and play around a little before giving up

yank keyboard, mouse, etc. disconnect all the sata shit.

are you sure your CPU fan is on the right fan header?
everything connected 100% ok?

edited.

i can't really think of anything past that.
either the CPU isn't detected (outdated BIOS with no support?) or the board is toast i'd guess.

you may want to give it one last shot outside of the case, though i don't have much hope.

you'd likely get no response at all if it was a short, since your psu would trip.

isn't system building fun?

a bit off-topic; it's times like these when i wish remote assistance existed outside the virtual world.

RMA's still suck so i'd check with another forum like hardocp before pulling the trigger, see if anyone else has any ideas.

Make sure you did not screw up your socket with bent pins when the CPU was installed.

I had a motherboard from this company (asus) and needless to day I won't do it again. Long story short you are most likely going to need to call up your ram company and get the exact values and input them manually onto the bios, due to the motherboard not recognizing the ram.

So if you can return it and get another companies board. That is unless you want to spend hours apoun hours with level 1 tech support trying to get someone who will elevate you to a higher level of support.

Or you could just look at the package or, if applicable, the specs from the site from which you bought it. It's not uncommon at all, regardless of company, to need to manually set the RAM timings and speed.

While I agree its normal to set the basic timings (TCL, TRCD, TRP, TRAS); it should not be normal to have to change the advanced settings ( TCR, TWR, TWTR etc..). None of which are included on the package, or the web site, thus leading to the technical support phone call.
