A lot of grounding pins are redundant. Here's Intel's documentation for LGA1366 on the topic.

Just clean all the residue off the CPU's and heatsinks with paper towels (make sure to do a good job.)
Reapply a THIN layer of thermal grease and you're good to go. Remember more is not better, you're only trying to fill microscopic pits on the surface of the CPU and heatsink, using too much will impede heat transfer and make temps worse than no thermal grease at all.
Be very careful not to bend any pins on the sockets, they are VERY fragile on 775 boards.

well the pins are ON the slot ( motherboard ) rite ? so i have to take it straight up instead of going side ways rite .
