According to ATI, unless something goes horribly horribly wrong (remember the HD4770? That was only made so ATI could work out the bugs with a 40nm manufacturing process before releasing an entire line of 40nm processors and getting ridiculously low yields) the 5000 series should be released this month, shortly before Win7 ships on October 1st.
Should also be noted that the prices for the 5870X2, 5870, and 5850 will probably be $550-650, $370-400 and $250 respectively, but, as with any new line of cards, expect the prices to drop quickly after release.
EDIT: Apparently the HD5000 line was released (to manufacturers) about a week ago, but they aren't yet available to the public. I'd give it a week or so until store release. _________________
