Because the monkeys that mutated opposable thumbs died out. They developed the ability to create huge societies that we now call today "The World". There were the smart people on top, and the stupid people (or monkeys, i should say) on the bottom. The stupid monkeys were the strong and ruthless, but stupid, ones. They had too much monkey sex and ended up with too many monkey babies. The big dogs (Monkeys) on top created a condom for the strong, but stupid, monkeys on the bottom. The strong, BUT REALLLLY STUPID monkeys on the bottom couldn't get the condoms off, so the race died out. The big cheeses (monkeys) on top were too weak and frail to have monkey sex, so couldn't produce off spring. So the opposable thumb monkeys all died out. Humans were created when a lone monkey accidently activated Chuck Norris, and you know the rest.
