i was just wandering if anyone has any ways of dealing with irrational fears of things...
or if they would like to share theirs.
i have this fear which sounds stupid but whenever i think of this shape which is a sort of looming arrangement of downward facing tri angles, i lose sleep and get a deep dreading in the pit of my stomach...
so as i said, any advice on dealing with this fear?
i would prefer it if no one mocks anything in this thread.
and yes this is a serious topic. |
Why is my name is your sig?

my best way of dealing with fears is by thinking "what would happen if i hold wat i do because of this fear" if that doesnt work pinch urself or punch urself till u become woozy ur no longer afraid, worked for me on fear of heights

I'm always right, hence why I cannot be wrong.
Also, I have "light" hydrophobia, I don't enjoy being in water although swimming is fine and just being in there - but when my head goes under the water as in diving or something like that I panic.
Had that since I was born and won't get rid of it, tried many times to force myself into doing things but it never worked.

i have a fear of possible or made up dangers that are not visible because the lights are off. it isn't as bad as when i was younger, but i don't think i've fully gotten over it. it may sound silly, but i sometimes have trouble going downstairs for a drink of water at 1a.m. because it is dark.

That's just fear of the dark. (It's got quite a few phobia names.)

no, i'm not afraid of the dark. it is more a fear of the unknown; what i cannot see. the darkness just prevents me from seeing it. i agree that it is commonly referred to as a fear of the dark, but i like to think of it the other way.

I'm the opposite. I could truly care less about a needle in my arm, it doesn't affect me at all, but I can't watch it happen to someone else, it grosses me out so much.
I think the only thing I'm afraid of is small places, or more accurately a place where I'm not able to move or get out. When I was a kid, there were 2 couches against 2 walls in the corner, kind of like in an L shape, but there was a small space in the corner. I was reaching down for the remote or something and fell in between it and there was absolutely no way for me to move, and nobody was around to help me so I was stuck for like 20minutes. Also I have a memory of getting my rattle stuck on my face when I was a baby, naturally I didn't have the motor skills or anything to know how to move it, and I freaked out. I thought I was just remembering a dream maybe I had when I was a kid or something, but when I told my parents they said it happened when I was like 6 months old and there's no way I'd remember that, but I was able to describe it back to them exactly how it happened, the color of it, the room I was in and everything, weird

I'm scared to death of leaving my house alone at night because I live near the woods where all kinds of creepy shit is(and my neighbor who has an obsession with burning shit, no he doesn't live in the forest he just has a house pretty close to it)
