since the 1st one i build is lousy, i'll give it to my small bro
anyway, this is gonna be my one
Processor : Core i7 920 2.66GHz
Memory : Kingston DDR1333
HDD : haven't choose
Graphic Card : Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD4850/DDR3/TV/Dual DVI
MainBoard : GA-EX58-UD5
Socket : haven't choose
Monitor : Samsung 20"2043SW
Software : Windows Vista 64Bit original disc
Modem : help me choose
Optical Drive : FreeCom External Slim w/LightScribe DVDRW
Power Supply : Gigabyte Superb 720W
Edit : i wanted to overclock my pc so i need a better MainBoard and power supply

Also your making a desktop dont get a external drive....
There is only one socket for the i7....
Get Windows 7 64-bit preorder its cheaper....
You don't need a modem....
The memory is DDR3, not DDR1....
The GTX 250 is a shity card....
Any i7 board is good quality imo
HDD just get 1TB

I'm sorry, but it seems to me that your lack of knowledge on the subject makes it look as you have never built a computer before, and you won't.

Yes, any i7 board supports DDR3 RAM. All i7's are Socket 1366. Get an ATI HD4870 or the GTX 260 if your budget allows for it.

Fuck, seriously. For an i7 build, not knowing where you're buying your parts or how much you want to spend:
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P (UD5 has 2 more SATA ports on raid controller, extra ethernet port. You won't use either. Everything else is identical.)
i7 920
3x1GB or 3x2GB Corsair, OCZ or G.skill RAM
450 or 550W corsair PSU
Xigmatek HDT-s1283 CPU fan
500GB-1TB WD Caviar Black HDD
HD4870 or GTX260 or better
Modems are useless

Sorry if this is off topic.
I built a computer a couple of days ago.
What do you guys think?
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz
Mob: Gigabyte EX58 UD4P (Only other option was ASUS P6T)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX260 216Cores OC
HDD: WD 1TB SATA 7200R/PM
RAM: Corsair 6GB DDR3 1333Mhz
Case: Thermaltake V9 (I don't recommend people buy this)
DVD: OEM Sony x20 Burner
$1500AUD (but paid $750 because Education Tax Refund, which has now ended)
Later on in the future I plan on upgrading to:
12GB RAM
Coolermaster Cosmos S RC1100
SLI another GTX260 or buy a higher end graphics card.
Add a good CPU COoler and OC...
