|
|
I was having a little bit of trouble with my laptop. I finally figured out the problem: I right clicked and selected personalize. I then clicked Display Settings, and I got the error shown below, instead of the usual Intel Graphics window. I'm still using Vista Home Premium SP1.
The last time I got notifications for those official Window updates, mostly security fixes, there were 8 updates. I installed them all like I usually do. I don't think I had touched the Graphics window since then, so I'm kinda wondering...
How can I fix this?

For some reason your Intel Graphics driver's aren't being used...
So why don't you try un-install your Intel graphics driver's, then do a windows update...
It should come up with the Intel drivers.
Else download them off the internet...

I looked in the programs list, the only one that seems related to Intel says Intel Matrix Storage Manager, which does NOT sound like what I'm looking for...
As said in my first post, my last official Windows update installing had 8 items, shown in the picture following.
I don't know if I'd had this problem for a while and just didn't know it, or if I just got it today.
I really need help...

None of those updates have anything to do with the Graphic's drivers.

There were plenty more updates, yes, but those were the last ones installed, and they were all installed at the same time.
So...Even if by the way of the wallet, I can get this fixed, right?

Just go to the support site for your laptop and download from there or
grab it off Intel's site.
To grab if off from Intel, you'll need to know your laptop's chipset model.
Desktop chipset can be substitute for Mobile chipsets such as if your chipset is not listed in the Mobile section, then look in the Desktop section.
This might help

Whoa...I don't know if this is related to the problem, but get this: I just looked in Program Files. Beneath the usual folders was a list of 126 files with the extension .cab
And next to them, it says Cabinet File.
They all have the first three letters of a month, and then a year, and then some numbers and letters in a seemingly random code. The earliest one has April of '05 in it, although all of them say they were last modified...TODAY?!
I didn't do anything different today...WTF?!
Wait. 3 are different...
One is .exe and the other two are .dll.
DXSetup.exe
DSetup.dll
dsetup32.dll
Wait a minute...I think I tried to install DirectX from somewhere because one of my games said it didn't work because it needed it; of course I didn't have that problem prior to this Intel problem.
I can delete those .cab files and the aforementioned 3 files without doing any damage whatsoever, right?

I'm not 100% certain but I believe those are DirectX files...
Why they are in the Program Files Folder I have no idea...

Oops, sorry I made that so urgent. My bad...I downloaded DirectX, which didn't work, and had saved it into Program Files, because I thought it would make its own folder for it. I removed it, but the Intel problem remains...

This is a 5 minute job, why are you confusing yourself?
Follow the post each member had suggested and see if that works.
Stop wondering off to the wrong path!
Your focus is on your graphic card not Direct X or any other applications.
