Gonna go work at McDonald's sometime this month.
I figure I'll earn around 500 or so at the end of May.
Someone give me a good build for a decent play on Crysis?

Way overpaying, unless you mean you are getting a full set with moniter, speakers, keyboard etc.

A decent build must have:
2GB+ RAM for sure
160GB+ HardDrive
3.2GHz+ Processor
A DVD and CD writer which you can burn disks with.

You would need more money if your going to buy a good graphics card like Nvidia GeoForce 9800GTX+ or ATI Radeon 4850.

Without the moniter and accessories this would probably cost you $600-$700. A decent moniter should be around $140-$160. Do a bit of research.

MHz doesn't mean anything. Take, for example, a q6600 clocked at 2.66ghz and an i7 920 clocked at 2.66ghz. The i7 920 will perform over 20% faster than the q6600. Architecture plays a huge role.

Acually it will be around 50-90% better.

For the trollers out there:

500$ will be enought to play crysis.
I've got a 1year old computer with a 8800GT and a E4500 which
can play crysis at HIGH.
And for 500$ he will get a better computer then my old.

Just get an E5XXX and ATI 4850/4830 and some okey overclocking MB
and 800mHz ram with either 2*1GB or 2*2GB.
And then overclock the CPU to about 3 gHz that wont higher the temp even with the original cooler.

So people stop trolling and start knowing.

Yes it does mean alot, a q6600 @ 2.66ghz will perform slower than a q6600 @ 3.66ghz ( you cannot just compare 2 different technologies), but its not the only thing you have to take into account. Judging by your logic, that, "MHz doesn't mean anything" , a i7 920 @ 1mhz would outperform a q6600 because of its architecture.

This is getting very enoying by you.
You can just search at google you will find that yourself.

Also the overclocking on the i7 you will gain ALOT more preformance when overclocking.

I just don't believe that just an i7 clocked at the same mhz will perform a minimum of 50% better than it's predecessor. (core 2 quad)
