well if ur a gamer u should get atleast 1GB ram,
but if you are heavy gamer you should get more,
2Gb ram would be good unless you wanna use programs that requires more ram

but i say 2.5GB is okey,

heheh ohh and you need a good hard drive too,
if you wanna save lots of game,

i mean games like call of duty 4 is size 6GB already ya know...
hehehhee so having really low hardrive really is bad for you if ur a gamer like meh!

Crysis - the GPU benchmark eats 896MB at Windows XP "Very" High settings.

RAM isn't the most important part of a gaming computer, though it does effect games. I would say the graphics card matter much more than the RAM does.

2GB is the sweet-spot for most gamers. I have 2GB and Crysis runs smoothly, but once I take out 1GB and test Crysis, there's quite a noticeable difference in speed.

RAM is dirt cheap these days, definitely get 4GB. But you never mentioned your budget so we can't go very far here...

2 gigs of GDDR3 RAM, with a 8800 GT at least for quality gaming with a decent motherboard and a CPU that runs at least 2.5 GHZ or above with a 150 GB HDD.

the newer 8800gtS actually performs BETTER than the GT in any resolution 1600x1200 or lower. So unless you have a massive monitor of 21"+, then youre better off with the cheaper nvidia 8800gts (512 0r 640 MB versions) than the GT.

also: mother board is extremely important. if you want to be able to replace pieces in your PC instead of repurchasing an entire PC, then you'd better find a motherboard that has socket types compatible for future use, and lots of PCI, or PCIE slots, and memory slots.

First tip, do not listen to ANYTHING that Hiroshi13879 or w/e says. ANYTHING!

And if you're going to be a gamer, the main thing you want is a good GPU (Graphics card). I haven't been following the newest things out now, but I'm running on an OC'ed nVidia 8800GT and i couldn't be happier. I built a mid-top range gaming PC for only $1500.

I will find you some parts when i get done cleaning the kitchen...

Total bullshit. 2gb amounts of ram should be more than enough for most of the games out there. A good graphics card on the other hand is more important.
(Also, if you overclock you set your rams to run at 1:1 with the fsb, hence why RAMs like 9xxx is unnecessary.(Whole depending on your processors multipel though, but that's another story)).

You may be a pro gamer, but you know nothing about computers.

In the world of games, the hardware depends more then the gamer.
