i have a program for it and whenever i try to connect to my sisters or mothers computers, it always says the connection timed out. can somebody help me? is it there firewall? is it because i have a router with a password?

already got it off their help thing but thanks

now i still cant connect though, im trying to connect through my moms laptop but it times out still.

port forwarded too, so router shouldnt be the problem now

also she has no firewall, i already checked.

You don't need a program, just use Windows Remote Desktop Connection. It's pretty simple, on your mom's laptop, remember the WAN IP, www.whatismyip.com . Or get a NO-IP and use that. Enable Remote Desktop Connection on your Mom's laptop. Your mom's laptop must have a user with a password, this will be the account you sign in with. Enter IP where it goes and sign in. :]

Breaking into your mom's computer is not nice, You can't remotely connect to it if you don't even have access to it. =.=

If you want to scare your mom, just ask her for use of her computer to check the specs of it, go to Control Panel>Mouse>Reverse Primary and Secondary Button>OK. Now it'll Reverse Right and Left Click. I did this to all the computers at my school library, later that day I heard on the Intercom, Students please do not change any settings of the Library's Computers.

By the way, Remote connections to a computer are usually a locked service that you'd have to start and probably enable before you can use it. If you Use VNC then when you install it on a client it auto sets all the settings you need for it to work. ....well most of the settings D;
