What kind of increments would you recommend me to increase by?

I was thinking about going up by 5-10mhz every time for my FSB.

But how much do I raise the voltage by when the computer doesn't boot properly?

Btw, I got a Pentium D 805 if that matters.

iirc (long time since i oc'd), just up your fsb by 5 or 10 each time, reboot & run performance tests, if the comp restarts or anything raise voltage by 0.1. go back into windows & run test again. if it works -> raise fsb by 5 or 10 again & then you just keep doing that

Do watch out for the temperature though. Always.

There was something about fsb & memory being synced while oc'ing for best performance/stability. I remember the number 1:1 but not what it's for heh.

Prime95.

It will push your cpu/ram to the limit.

prime95 is childs play compared to linpack / intelburntest

it almost shouldn't be used because it generates unrealistic amounts of heat.

I tried downloading PCMark, but it kept telling me that I needed a previous version to install it or something and wouldn't work.

So I got 3DMark Vantage off of w-bb, and that thing takes forever to load a test, and then crashes halfway through the first one. fml.

I dunno, I was just looking through w-bb and found that one.

Btw, I'm also trying to overclock my GeForce 9600 GSO with RivaTuner.

So do I move my Core Clock up gradually? That seems to be linked with my shader clock, since they both move up at the same time. But what about the memory clock? What do I do with that?

I don't know if this helps but I knew someone who used Y-cruncher as a cpu stressing tool.

http://www.numberworld.org/y-cruncher/

i use Furmark to test stability then try testing gaem benchmark, when i was overclocking my NVIDIA card, i don't remember pumping any memory, only core and shader, unlike ATi cards.

How long do I have to run a stability test for to make sure it's working fine?

And it isn't recommended for me to jack up my core clock from 550 to 650 all in one go right? Because I read on some site that my card can go all the way up to 666, but they went up gradually.

your video card is not as forgiving with bad overclocks, do not do it all at once. also don't even bother on a 9600, waste of time and effort.

RivaTuner is so messed up.

I can overclock it, but it doesn't stay overclocked once I reboot my computer. There's an option to overclock it as soon as my computer turns on, but it doesn't work...

because you should only load the settings when you need them, i.e games.

no reason to have it overclocked when you're just browsing and simple tasks.

this is why cards now have 2d settings and 3d settings
