|
|
Recently I got a new PC which has an i7-14700 intel processor and 32Gb DDR5 of RAM.
My operating system is Windows 11.
When loading DBVM my PC freezes instantly and a hard reboot is needed.
When manually loading DBVM in each CPU core I get a weird error message. (see attached image)
I have looked online for fixes:
1. Enabling PC virtualization in BIOS // VT for intel, AMD-V for amd // It was enabled by default
2. Turning off core isolation
3. Turning off virtual machines while doing DBVM // To disable Hyper-V: bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
4. Turning off unnecessary apps while doing DBVM
5. Turning off anti-viruses
6. Lowering CPU cores
Nothing worked.
Then I decided to install Windows 10 to see if DBVM worked there.
I had an unused SATA SSD drive, so I plugged it into my PC and installed W10 there.
Tried DBVM and it just simply worked.
Ultimap (which uses DBVM) is one of the most important features in Cheat Engine in my opinion.
A normal person is not going to go through the hassle of installing another operating system just to use Ultimap.
DBVM is clearly not implemented into Windows 11 correctly and I am not saying that it is easy to do so.
Disabling CPU cores just shouldn't be an option.
It is what it is and I am just happy that I can use Ultimap now.
Although, it would be convenient to have everything in one place and not to switch through operating systems.

Hey, I have exactly the same error.
It was working fine a few years ago, pretty sure I was already on Windows 11 back then.
The difference now is that im running a more recent CPU (i7 13700KF) which has 24 cores (I lowering the used cores to 2 but it still doesn't work)
And I am on Win11 24H2. Did you find any fix for this, or still experiencing the issue?

hey bud, i'm having the same issue. i'm on the same device and it used to work fine before even back then i was on Windows 11, but something's different now. just says your system doesn't support DBVM now. and i tried everything.
i too use ultimap and like that feature of cheat engine.
edit: i tried windows 10 like you and dbvm loads successfully now!

Quote: | A Deep Dive into Windows Security and Virtualization Settings
VBS (Virtualization-Based Security) and Memory Integrity (Core Isolation) Settings:
Will disabling core isolation solve the problem? However, virtualization-based security (VBS) can be more aggressive in Windows 11.
Sometimes, it may need to be completely disabled via group policy or registry settings.
We recommend that you check the steps for disabling VBS completely.
Checking Hyper-V: Disabling Hyper-V with the "bcdedit" command. However, this command may not always work completely. It is recommended to ensure that virtualization features such as Hyper-V and Windows Sandbox are completely disabled in the "Turn Windows Features On or Off" section. |
Quote: | Another program or setting in the user's current Windows 11 installation that they are unaware of may be preventing DBVM from working.
The most definitive solution is to perform a clean install of Windows 11 on a blank SSD and try DBVM by installing only Cheat Engine.
This will definitively determine whether the problem is caused by the operating system itself or other installed applications.
This situation is typical of new-generation hardware and operating system incompatibilities.
Windows 11 has stricter security and virtualization requirements than Windows 10.
Therefore, developers must adapt to this new system for low-level virtualization tools to function properly. The user's most practical solution at this time is to continue using Windows 10.
However, the steps mentioned above may increase the likelihood of finding a solution in Windows 11. |
You should probably expand the solutions or wait for the next version.
