Kinda like the NCAA games had. You play as a OC/DC, call the plays and play your side of the ball. When change of possession happens the camera would switch to broadcast mode and you would lose the abillity to call plays on the other side of the ball. Since the camera angle would be changed, you wouldn't need to lock controls of the defensive players.

This is possible (95% sure on this) considering all the amazing things that Calhoupe has made with his Madden 08 scripts.
