|
|
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to get into ultimap. However, for the life of me, I can't get DBVM to work properly. No matter the settings, I keep getting BSODs.
Some information about what I've tried up to now:
- Without Kernel Mode Debugger, I can load DBVM. However, the system BSODs after roughly 10 secs without me doing anything at all.
- With Kernel Mode Debugger, it BSODs as soon as I try to load DBVM.
- I tried other Debuggers as well, without success.
- Loading DBVM on only 1 core/thread did not help either.
- I experimented in CE 7.1 (DBVM v14) as well as CE 6.8.3. (DBVM v11). They behave (seemlingly) identically when it comes to the issue.
- I usually closed all other windows processes.
- A couple of different BSOD messages that showed up: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, SYSTEM-SERVICE_EXCEPTION, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_UNPAGED_AREA.
Some system information:
- I run Win7 Home Premium Build 7601, SP1
- My system: i5-750 (with virtualization enabled in BIOS), 8GB Mem
- I did have vmware player installed, but uninstalled it for ultimap
What am I doing wrong? Is my CPU possibly too old for DBVM?
PS: I'm sorry in advance as I imagine a diagnosis at a distance is pretty hard. But maybe somebody ran into a similar problem.
Cheers, Scuzz

Don't run any other virtualization software like bluestacks, vmware, or hyper-V

| I checked that Hyper-V is in fact disabled and I unistalled vmware. So, there shouldn't be any interference by virtualization softwares.

| Just a guess but a "home version" might not support all virtualization functions, this kind of limitations are common in microsoft products. Maybe there is a different with aprofessional version of win7.

| Hm, that might be. I was going to setup a fresh windows partition anyways sometime this weekend. Might as well try Win Ultimate or Professional then. Thank you.
