I'm trying to see what code accesses certain memory locations, but to do this requires attaching a debugger, which, when I do that, the game crashes (Error message: I couldn't attach the debugger to this process! You could try to open the process using the processpicker and try that! If that also doesn't work check if you have debugging rights.).
I am certain this is due to the game's anti-cheat system. I've searched online but couldn't find any threads more recent than 2018, so I'm wondering what's currently the best way of getting around the anti-cheat? I'd prefer not to download a cracked version. Thanks!

OK, so turning VEH on worked insofar as the game does not crash when I attach the debugger. However, when I use the "find out what writes to this address" function for an address pointed to by one of the pointers I have in my list, it does not detect any opcodes when that value is changed. Is there any other settings I have to use when I turn on VEH?
I also checked my boot settings and debug is turned off.

check the option "override existing breakpoints" but there is a chance it will crash, but perhaps you get enough info to help you.
Also, try DBVM if you have an intel cpu, those code finders with without debugger

I tried both of your suggestions already but the first didn't work, and when I set to DBVM the game crashed as soon as I attached the debugger.

you don't attach the debugger with the DBVM functions
You just pick "DBVM find out what writes/accesses this code"
(again, DO NOT use kernelmode debug, or attach the debugger)
go to extra and enable kernelmode openprocess in settings->extra

I am having the same problem, VEH debug and there is nothing in the opcodes.
I am with an AMD cpu so I cant enable dbvm. The game is chicken invaders 5.
