That's because db is lazy to upgrade the board system to something modern like phpBB3

There is no need for a better one, this one works just fine.
Have you ever heard the expression "If it works, don't break it!"?
As you mature - which is obviously has not happened yet - you stop being an upgrade junkie and learn to appreciate when something simply works and does it job, as opposed to being a flashy dysfunctional bugfest.

I love phpBB2.
It's more fun installing mods, rather than standalone extensions.
I also like the modified stylesheet Dark Byte uses.

i might remember an attempt to shift to phpbb3 and maybe it didn't go so well or wasn't as secure or something and DB went back.
it also could be that i'm remembering temporary havens that were put up when there were legal disputes

| phpBB3 has more functionality, but phpBB2's default style looks better (subSilver)

what a stupid expression, the board can work with 10s of security holes while db doesn't wanna break it. phpBB3 patches major security holes and it can still "work without breaking it"
