				|
 |
				| Hello. I am currently trying to trace a multilevel pointer as seen in step 8 of the tutorial for cheat engine, and I cannot figure out the problem.

When I find the first address of the pointer, and then look at what accesses it, and I take the address and subtract the offset (0x18)
so i then get this address 195 1978,
and when i paste it into the scanner, i get this error message.
if anyone could help that would be great.
 thanks for your time.

				| That value won't fit into two bytes, hence the error. Plus, it seems like a pointer, not like a value.

				| so this is odd. so somehow i got it to work, and now I'm working with a number that has an offset of 14, so don't i just subtract 14 from the address and then paste it into the box? shouldn't this allow me to find the base pointer? it gives me that error whether hex is checked or not or whether or not there is a zero in front of the address. I honestly just want to know the reason behind the error.

				| Try typing in the address instead of copy/pasting. Perhaps your copy/paste adds in some invisible characters _________________
