|
|
| I'm pretty new to CE but I've kinda got the basics down. I'm playing pokemon emerald in VBALink, and I'm trying to find the number of a certain type of berries in your bag, but can't seem to find it. I've searched specific values as well as initial value unknown, and I used search under all, but i can never narrow it down, is there any possibility that the values are encrypted? If so how would I go about reading them? Thank you for your time.

I don't know VBAlink, but being an emulator try to look for the value in the various sub-processes you find, you are probably selecting the process from the process list via the "Applications" section, try to see if there are sub-processes of the emulator in the "Processes" section.
Or you can scan the physical memory of your computer and if you find anything then the value is encrypted

I checked task manager to see if VBALink had any subprocesses, but i couldn't find any and i tried scanning on both the application and the process, if it was encrypted how would i go about finding it in physical memory? Thank you for your reply btw

| Okay so I found some other values, incoming xp and pokemon stats, and they weren't encrypted and they also were inside the VBA.exe process, so I'm starting to think that the numbers for berries are just stored in a weird way, maybe one that just saves space, or as values in an array(rather than each having a variable). Any suggestions?

| Have you tried using the same scan options to re-scan the memory of the VBAlink process? It is likely that Cheat Engine has excluded some areas of memory where there were those values (I could also be wrong)

is MEM_MAPPED in settings->scan settings enabled ? (And ignore that query memory region think shown in that vid, not needed and makes scans slow)
