Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong section but I'm new here and never used this site before. Ok... I originally asked this in another forum site and everyone who replied said to use Cheat Engine (which I'd never even heard of before)
Ok to get to the point... all I want is just some way to be able to turn auto-aim on in standard difficulty, that's it. I'll copy and paste what one person said to do, which I fully believe is the correct thing to do, but as I'm not tech savvy at all... this might as well like trying to understand nuclear physics for me and everything I have tried so far has accomplished nothing
I'd be very appreciative if one of you lovely wonderful nerds could please just make a CE program for me just so that i can turn on auto-aim in standard difficulty. Cheers.
There's a tool called "Cheat Engine". You run that software along with the game. Then you alt-tab to that software from the game and perform a search for memory addresses matching certain values.
It's basically like this:
If you go to the options and turn off auto aim on easy. Go to Cheat Engine and create a New Search, and search for the value 0 (most likely value for "off").
then, go to the game, and turn on auto aim. Go back to Cheat Engine and filter the search with the value 1 (a likely value for "on").
and then you do that, on and off, on and off, to filter out any other memory addresses that might have matched the first time around.
If you are lucky there will only be one address left. And then you can lock or change the value of that address to "1" which would be "auto aim on", even if you play on another difficulty level.

Try a third party site.
Or try the CE tutorial, perhaps along with a text/video guide online. Someone with no knowledge of computer science can follow those instructions without too much trouble; however, more likely than not in my experience, you'd be lucky if it was that simple to do.

Know any third part sites or simple tutorials (like on youtube for example) explaining in easy-to-understand ways how to do exactly what i'm asking for? Or better yet, could you possibly do it for me? I'll be your friend

1) Open Cheat Engine.
2) Start the game.
3) Through Cheat Engine select the game process.
4) In the game, open the window from which you can activate and deactivate automatic aiming.
5) If it is disabled via Cheat Engine, look for an exact value of 0.
6) After finishing the scan, activate it and look for the value 1 (again via Cheat Engine).
7) Always after finishing the scan disable it and search for 0.
8) Reactivate it and look for the value 1.
9) Continue like this when few values remain.
10) Change mode, enter the game and set the values to 1, you should be done.
Every time you restart the game you will have to do these steps again since the memory address on which the variable was previously will have changed, you could avoid it using some techniques to trace it very easily including:
1) Code finder
2) Code hook
3) Find a working pointer
The best way is to scan the pointers on the address whose pointer you want to get (A good pointer will always know where the variable you are looking for is without having to search for it).
It is easy to do this, but the thing that hinders people to help you is the fact that it would take much longer to download the game and find a good pointer.

Ok... thanks for your replies. So this is what i did so far step by step...
1. Opened Cheat Engine.
2. Opened Resident Evil 2.
3. On Resident Evil 2 i then went to the Options screen, then to Controls and down to "auto aim"... which was set to on, so it changed it to off.
4. Then i alt + tab'd to CE and entered 0 underneath where it says "Value" and clicked on First Scan... which came up with heaps of stuff on the side there.
5. I then alt + tab'd back to CE, changed auto aim to on, went back to CE, put a 1 underneath where it says Value and clicked on Next Scan and after about a minute it then came up with what you can see in the photo here...

Have i done it correctly?
P.S. Obviously remove spaces in that link cause this f**king c**t of a site just won't let me post the f**king thing or include the pic as an attachment no matter what i do.
