So am I detecting correctly that it's odd to use symbols as pointers like this? Can't figure out how to get at any base pointers in this game without reading it from a register within an appropriate function.
Of course I'm obviously not very seasoned at finding pointers in the first place. I know how to find the vars, run the pointer scans, reboot the game and filter the old list on the new matches. It's just not getting few enough results, and comparing pointer maps takes forever.
No, it's not odd. Using code injection to copy an address into an area of memory CE controls (e.g. registered symbol) is a very common way of getting an address. Search for "injection copy" for more information. _________________
