Hi everybody

As an a continuation to my prev post about validating offset before reading it :
https://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=608594

It was suggested to use {$try}/{$except} to try and catch when reading wrong address, and expected result was to hit {$except} when error occurs, but i did not work that way and actually it went as if {$try}/{$except} was not even there, on first error crash occurred (and btw the second way suggested actually works very well so far).

So my question is, how to use {$try}/{$except} correctly and are there any limitations to know about it ?

It sounds like a great feature instead of many manually checks..

Thanks,

Place the code that can error out between {$try} and {$except}

at the end of {$try} jmp to a specific location indicating success (if you do not the code in {$except} will be called

Note that the except code can get called from any point so make sure that it can deal with unexpected register values.
