For me, it's pretty simple: no. The United States legally recognized confederate soldiers as veterans (PUBLIC LAW 85-426 and PUBLIC LAW 85-810), they received government pension and recognition. Honoring the dead of some veterans but not all veterans based on moral relativism of the individual wars obviously is a problem for many reasons, among them is the fact that soldiers are often drafted against their will and died for their country. It didn't matter if you supported the Confederation on slavery, if you were drafted you had to go to war. People often forget that soldiers aren't politicians.
