Cheat Engine

So I haven't used cheat engine in a long long time. I exactly created some trainers some years ago.
So one would think I know a little bit of what I'm doing but going a bit crazy here

So to get back in too things I thought I would just pick an old game UT99 and just fool around a bit.

Lets take ammo for instance. After finding the ammo value I would try to search for the
pointer by just manual checking "Find out what accesses this address"

And it does find some stuff. But nothing with offsets is this correct?

When I do a hex "new scan" with the value "09506180" (as seen in the screenshot under "more info")
I do find some addresses which I then changed to pointers with offset 0, but those didn't work a map switch.
So I tried to repeat the step for multi-level pointers scan but those yield no result?

Is it because there is no offset or am I doing something else wrong?

you can also read mov eax,[edi] as mov eax,[edi+00000000000000000000000000000000000000]


(the offset is 0)

as for not being valid after a restart is because you didn't go back until a static address (green in ce's window)
