Hello,

So I got a new computer and decided to put 3.5.1 on it. But for some reason, it won't allow me to have an obvious opt out of installing the sponsored AIDs packaged with CE. However, on the 3rd install attempt, I managed to find the small print of "click here to customise install" to prevent it from installing onto my system.

Can you do updates which make it obvious what is being installed, and what isn't? It is the PC equal of ordering food, with an auto-accepted smallprint of agreeing for the chef to smear dog faeces over it. Sponsored by the Dog Walkers Alliance or not.

I refuse to install that malware stuff on my computer.

DB has to make money somehow, and advertisements like those are the way to do it. Don't complain about someone else trying to profit off of your own inadequacy. Otherwise, you'll find society to be a much bleaker reality than what it is for others who have accepted this seemingly callous behavior as commonplace. This instance isn't even that bad since you can opt out of the offers.

If you find an offer that doesn't give you the option to opt out of it or installs unwanted software anyway, then complain (with images).

This has been addressed here. DB said that he would look in to it. Even I was fooled, as it does actually give you the option to opt-out (I think?). Very Happy

Yes, I noticed it on the third try. Just like it was pointed out by Zanzer in the other thread, ++METHOS.

@ParkourPenguin
I have no issues with DarkByte making money. I only have issue with the installer attempting to force me to install Malware. If I couldn't install Cheatengine without being able to opt out, then I would choose never to install CE. This would not only affect me, but affect a lot of people, and DarkBytes good work disappears.

All I asked was for the option to be clearly labelled, so I can choose not to destroy my computer. Methos's thread shows you how obscure the option was.

As for this sentence of yours... I am not quite sure how to take this argument?

-Then why create a new thread?

Anyway, DB does not control what ads get cycled in, to my knowledge, but can contact the advertiser and request to remove ads that are identified as unacceptable.

By the way, you have the option to install CE without the adware.

Your analogy sucks

Dog Walkers Alliance - if there was one - would not benefit from you eating dog shit. Dog shit is more useful underground where plants can use it for nutrients.

But you are right. The opt-out is very small and meant to be missed.

Most of the offers aren't malware, just annoying toolbar apps and adware. So if you accidentally install them - chill out! - your PC will not be destroyed but i can't say that for your ass-hole when you eat dog shit with your food ( it will burn 100% )
