CheatEngine 6.5
What I did:
Launching a 64bit game, launching CE. Scan for 4 Bytes value: 0
Then rescan for value: 100
After a few seconds it showed me the previous values are <None>, then I then tried to select all of the values to add it to the list, CE got frozen and later a "CheatEngine has stopped working" window showed up.

I had over 250GB free on my system drive. I don't think anything has cleaned my temp folder, at least not that I can think of.
btw is it safe to increase the scan buffer to 1024 or will it cause any problems?

No, 1024 is ok.
I must admit I've already experienced that problem with CE 6.5 too but didn't report it as a bug because I'm not entirely sure how it happened.
I had an unknown inital value scan with value type byte. After several rescans with changed/unchanged comparing to the last scan (default), I narrowed it down to about 10,000 results.
After selecting "Compare to first scan" and scanning for unchanged, I got a "Memory access violation" error after some seconds and afterwards my result list looked exactly like Hatschi's ...
I haven't tested if the above actions always provoke that error, that's why there's no bug report ...
