Cheat Engine

So I thought... new version of CheatEngine, 6.4, Okay.. I should probably get it to use with some of my games. I went to the website, got the downloader, but when I click "skip" button for both of the built in ads in the installer, the installer exits.... ???????????

Has it been suddenly designed so we're forced to pick one of the two ad options just to install it now?

If so... it looks like we can't install CheatEngine any more Sad

Or am I doing something wrong? Using Windows 7 x64.

first tick "I agree" , then on ads screen tick "I don't accept/agree", and finish installation. Smile

What about checking the "custom" radio button instead of the "Express (recommended)" one and then uncheck all three check boxes ...

Hm, where did you get that Installer from? I just redownloaded and reinstalled CE 6.4 with the give Installer on cheatengine.org (clicking on the big green banner) and there even were no ads ... Surprised

clicking skip should have installed CE. Did your anti virus/firewall block connections ?
Also, how big was the download file ?

(the download page also has a link without installer)

698 KB, looks like it's some sort of "downloader". When clicking Skip, it closes and doesn't continue, and it thusly won't install. I don't mind a few ads during installers as long as they are indeed skippable and we do get to go through and finish installing.

I did not see the link to the download without the adware stuff.. I was just clicking "Download Cheat Engine 6.4" in big letters. But I found the other version down in the text, thanks, that one works fine.

Use that and do custom install to prevent additional downloads/installs.

Here's what I get on windows, trying to use CheatEngine64.exe downloaded either from mirror3, or from the mirror1 link Lorrenzo posted. The installer greys out the custom installation option so you can not disable it, and does not provide any sort of "Skip" button.

I had to download the exe in a seperate browser in IE actually, as Chrome now blocks mirror1, 2, and 3 for CheatEngine explicitly because the installer will attempt to trick you into installing malware.

I usually just keep a copy of Cheat Engine zipped up so I don't have to re-download the installer. So much more convenient either way. Not sure if ZIP is on the website but I'll throw it in my DropBox just in case you guys want it.

Just a heads up, there is a data collector that is installed with 6.4, as much as I would like to complain I dont donate enough to keep ads out but everyone should be aware, in the license agreement there is agreement to install some monitoring program that supposedly "does not take any personal information"
