How do I cheat?

Not to long ago i had converted an old laptop of mine to Linux strictly for performance reasons due to the age of the laptop. The exact OS that i am using is Linux Lite. I have used cheat engine in the past with windows and it worked tremendously, I enjoy the software very much and I am continuing to use it on Linux. I have games that i run through Steam that i have used Cheat Engine upon and it worked great on windows. and now i am using Linux I am running my steam through an open source Linux software known as "Playonlinux" which works better with games rather than wine due to simplicity. I have the games running on my machine but the problem is i do not know how to have Cheat Engine see the specific game application so i can run my scans and such and so. I am stumped on how to fix this issue, I am a Green IT and i have no experience in any sort of programing. is there anyone whom has fix this problem or knows how to fix this problem. If so much will be appreciated THANKS.
