I'm currently attempting to find memory values for a game I'm running in BlueStacks. Doing my homework online, it was recommended to change a few settings from their defaults in Cheat Engine:
* Use kernel debugger mode
* Check "Query memory region routines"
* Check MEM_MAPPED
* Disable "Fast scan on by default"
Doing all of that, I tried to do a search in the Physical Memory for an integer (number of points I had in the game). The status bar gets all the way to the right side and the computer BSODs on me with the following error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
For background, I'm running a relatively new Toshiba Qosmio. 1TB HDD, 12GB Ram, Core i7 with Windows 8.1.
Any suggestions? I've made no other changes to Cheat Engine settings other than what's listed above.

when doing physical memory only fast scan has an effect on the scan results. The rest is just wishful thinking
anyhow, scan the memory between 00000000 to c0000000 and if thwat doesn't find anything, 100000000 to the max
(do NOT scan the region c0000000 to ffffffff, you'll crash)
if you have less ram, your chances of success will rise as well.
(next ce version can scan this better)

Dark Byte,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I tried setting the ranges to 000000000 to c0000000 and it BSOD'd even in that interval. This time it crashed only about half way through the scan. Any ideas?
Or is there any way to see other memory regions that should not be touched given my particular hardware?

open regedit
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->HARDWARE->RESOURCEMAP->System Resources->Physical Memory
doubleclick on .translated
then doubleclick on bus 0
the list of physical memory ranges are ranges you are allowed to scan

Excellent advice. Many thanks! I tried several ranges in there. The starting address plus the length (had to do some hex math), and finally found one that seems to be where bluestacks is storing game data. Same range now works on multiple bluestacks games so I think I've found my solution.
Gracias Dark Byte!

If I got something like:
Physical Address: 0xdaff4000; Lengh: c000.
The memory search should begin and end where?

I wouldn't even bother, but it'd be daff4000 to db000000

| Why not bother? Isn't it a valid memory range to bluestacks?

the chance that it is being used by bluestacks is pretty low (I assume they get blocks of 2MB at least and this is only 48kb) ,but I could be wrong
