Hello. I'm incredibly new to doing stuff in Cheat Engine, I started messing around last night, I did a little bit of the tutorial, but I'm still working through it.
Basically, I have a few pointers set up to change different stats. All of the stats start at 0, and until they are given a value, the pointers seem to point to the same address with a value that changes around as the game plays. It isn't until a value is assigned to the stat, that the pointer will find where the actual address for the stat value is.
I was just curious if this is just the way the game is, or if something can be done to make the stat values accessible from the start, rather than after learning a few points in it.

technically it could be that the game uses the vars in this way,
most likely your pointer is one of others that point to your desired values at later gameprogress, in that case you have to further filter out your pointers.
for example when you have made a pointerscan und restarted the game with 0 stats, than filter your last scan by searching for current value 0 (byte/float etc) at the pointerscan menu
