Is there any technique possible ( usermode or kernel ) where you have the ability to set more than four hardware breakpoints in a single thread or are you limited to the Dr0 - Dr3 registers and there is no hope of working around that?

Because it is a HARDWARE breakpoint. The hardware (cpu) can not encode and deal with more than 4
Perhaps some specialized x86 based cpu specially designed for debugging can support it,which may sell for $50000 or more, but consumers usually don't have access to that
