|
|
Hi Guys,
I have recently started using CE.
For Game: Divinity II:Developer's Cut v1.4.700.38
Using Pointer Scan I found out the pointers for XP, XP Debt, Money.
The strange thing is while using the same game save the pointers always work, also after system and game restart.
Then on a different save game they all fail.
Then again on another save game they start to work again.
Then they stop working on original save.
What is the problem???

perhaps the level wasn't deep enough and you only got semi workable pointers (or the size was too small)
e.g: Perhaps a pointerpath goes through the name of your character, which coincides with a valid address, making it only work in those cases... (extremely unlikely, but it's one explanation out of a million other tiny causes)

Well I didn't use a savegame with different character name. But I did use save games with different locations. Though I am a NOOB I get your point that the case may be one in many scenarios.
So what do you recommend I try ??? I haven't tried using manual method for multilevel pointers. There were maximum four offsets in most cases so I am presuming this a multilevel case. Should I try that or it will fail ???
Any suggestions ???

it's almost always a multilevel.
Anyhow, try a higher level scan. (e.g 6)
or a structsize of 3192, or even 4096
