Using cheat engine 6.3.
Following the tutorial to the boot.
Stuck at STEP 6
But after adding a pointer manually when I double click on value field nothing happens, i.e. , no textbox opens asking to enter a value.
Also I have tried watching video tutorials. I follow them to point, but am unable to change the value nonetheless.
Please point out my mistake. Please tell me if you require any more detail.
P.S. : Can change values and activate/deactivate values stored in normal memory address. Also please excuse this NOOB. |

Yes
Also I am using "find out what access this" and NOT "find out what writes to this". |

| If the value field contains ??, then you probably do not have the correct address/offsets. You can not edit a value that contains ??. |

If I use what WRITES to this method. I can change the pointer value and it works.
Whats the difference between access and writes to this address ??? |

I'm not sure what you're talking about, then. You should not be able to edit the value of any standard address (or pointer address) in your cheat table that has ?? in the value field - unless you change the address/offsets to something valid.
Regarding what writes vs. what accesses...by searching for instructions that write to an address, the only instructions that the debugger will show you are instructions that write to that address and give it a value. By searching for instructions that access an address, the debugger will show you all results - those that write to (and) those that read from said address. |

I tried on Divinity 2 and successfully added a pointer. I saved it to divinity.ct .
Again I restarted both game and cheat engine and opened the divinity.ct .
But the value field shows "??" . Am I doing it wrong?? |

| You're probably not finding a reliable pointer/set of offsets. Did you try using the pointer scanner? I recommend learning and using it. |

multilevel pointers. Find out what accesses the pointer you found and find the pointer to that, and then link it together _________________
