Hi, a quick glance at wikipedia says that CE is a debugger, disassembler, and hex editor. I'm having trouble with using the latter two options - I'm not sure how to open a file with CE. And, "open existing file" with CE pops up a browse screen briefly before the program crashes- both windows close, and my OS (win7) detects it and asks me to send a report about the program crashing. I have no idea how to open files or disassemble .exes with CE, and I would be thankful if someone could tell me, or link me. I'm sure this is just me being a blind idiot; sorry if I am.

tl;dr
How do you open files with CE's hex editor (provided it has one)?
And, how do I use CE to disassemble a file?
I'm not asking how to use the disassembler or hex editor in general; I'm asking how to use it to open a file

Thanks.

processlist->open file should work.
But it seems it's broken. I'll see if I can add a quick fix for that tonight (still within 7 days after release)

Also, if you open it like that it is opened as a hexeditor, meaning the sections will not be located at the proper places as when it's loaded, but exactly as it is inside the file

Thanks!
Will downloading a previous version of CE have it working? (I have previous versions installed on my computer, but my AV, NOD32, removed some functionality of CE, and it doesn't work on those versions either - I can reinstall a previous version, but since I'm on a very bad connection, I don't want to pick the wrong setup version.)

Actually, it does seems to work. Just don't go beyond the end of the file

As for the crash you're experiencing, I can't explain that. It works for me. Be sure you use the processlist file open, and don't just to try to open a .exe with the cheat table fileopen

Usually I blame NOD when something crashes without reason
