He asked "What is the plural form of compass?"
Me "Compasses?"
Him "No compi, do you get it?"
Me "I get it, but I think it is compasses, not compi."
Him "I read it online yesterday, it is compi."
Me "Okay, believe everything on the internet."
Is it compasses or compi?

Things generally only end in -i in the plural if they end in -us in the singular.
